The eAssistant provides a tool that helps to manage your projects and calculation files. As soon as you logged in with your user name and your password, you are automatically in the project management. The project manager is the central point of the eAssistant. From here all calculation modules can be started. Furthermore you can manage all general functions, for example you can open, save, delete or copy your projects and calculation files. As already mentioned, you have the possibility to change your user data and your password.

3.1 The project manager - a general overview

3.2 The user properties

Here you can change your address data as well your password.

3.2.1 How to change user data

1. Click on the button ‘User properties’.

The personal data will be displayed.

2. Modify your personal data.

Please note: It is not possible to change your user name.

3. Enter your password into the left input field, next to the button ‘Change properties’.

4. Click on the button ‘Change properties’.

5. Click on the button ‘Project management’.

Now you are back in the project management.

3.2.2 How to change your password

1. Click on the button ‘User properties’.

2. Enter the new password into the input field ‘New password’.

3. Confirm the password in the input field ‘Repeat password’.

4. Enter your old password into the input field ‘Password’, next to the button ‘Change properties’.

5. Click on the button ‘Change properties’.

The new password has been successfully updated.

3.3 The project management

3.3.1 A listing of ‘Projects’

Here you can manage your projects. You can create a new project, you can copy, rename, or delete projects. The listing ‘Files’ displays the contents of the currently selected project.

How to create a new project

1. Just a right-click in the window ‘Projects’.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘New project’.

A new input field is opened.

3. Enter a name into the input field.

4. Confirm with ‘Ok’ to create the new project.

How to copy a project

PIC

1. Select the project you would like to copy and then just a right-click on this project.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Copy’.

The message window displays ‘Project copied’.

3. Click in the window ‘Projects’.

4. Right-click and select the menu item ‘Paste’.

Your copied project is now available.

Please note: The copied project has got still the title ‘Copy’. You can rename that project later. If you copy a project, the content (files) of this project will copied too.

How to rename a project

1. Select the project you would like to rename and then just a right-click on this project.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Rename’.

An input field is opened.

3. Enter a name into the input field.

4. Click on the button ‘Ok’.

The input field is closed. Your project is available in the window ‘Projects’.

How to delete a project

PIC

1. Select the project you would like to delete and then a right-click on this project.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Delete’.

A message is displayed, asking you to delete the project with all contained files.

3. Confirm this question with ‘Yes’.

Your project is deleted.

The project folder ‘Default’

The folder ‘Default’ is a default setting.

Please note: You cannot rename or delete the folder ‘Default’.

If you close a calculation module, the current state of the calculation will be saved automatically as a calculation file called ‘last Calculation’ in the project folder ‘Default’. In case you forgot to save your calculation, no data get lost. The calculation modules of the same module are overwritten when opening and closing the modules.

Please note: This function is not available in every licence modi.

3.3.2 A listing of ‘Calculation type’

In the window ‘Calculation type’ you can choose and start a calculation module.

The listing of all calculation modules uses a tree view to display the several modules. To see the full list of all calculations modules, click on the general description ‘Mechanical engineering’, then the hierarchy opens. Click on the plus sign (+), each calculation module will be displayed. To close the whole tree view, click on ‘Mechanical engineering’ again. To close just a particular part of the tree, click on the minus sign (-) next to the calculation module. If you select one of the calculation modules, then all files, which contain to this calculation module, will be displayed. Based on an integrated filter function, all saved calculations can be displayed within a project (specific or general).

How to start a new calculation

You would like to calculate a parallel key.

1. Click on ‘Shaft-hub-connections’.

The calculation modules of the shaft-hub-connection appear.

2. Select the calculation module ‘Parallel key’.

3. Click on the button ‘New calculation’.

The module ‘Parallel key’ opens.

Please note: With a double-click directly on the calculation module you can also start the module.

3.3.3 A listing of ‘Files’

In the window ‘Files’ all files will be displayed. Based on an integrated filter function all saved calculations can be displayed within a project (specific or general). So you can display all files which belong to the respective calculation module.

Every calculation module is marked by an according file extension. Just like the projects you can copy, paste, cut, rename, or delete all these files.

How to copy a file

1. Select the file you would like to copy and just a right-click on this file.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Copy’.

The message window displays ‘File copied’.

3. Select the project where you would like to copy the file.

4. Click the right mouse-button.

A context menu is opened.

5. Click on the menu item ‘Paste’.

How to rename a file

1. Select the file you want to rename and then just a right-click on this file.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Rename’.

A new input field is opened.

3. Enter a name into the input field.

4. Confirm with ‘Ok’.

The input field is closed. Your file is now available in the window ‘Files’.

Please note: If you change the file extension (for example: sft, brg oder ftk...), the file is useless and cannot be assigned to a project anymore. Please pay attention that the data file will keep the file extension.
How to cut out a selected file

1. Select the file you would like to copy and then just a right-click on this file.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Cut’.

The message window displays ‘File cut’.

3. Select the project where you would like to paste the file.

4. Click the right mouse-button.

A context menu is opened.

5. Select the menu item ‘Paste’.

The file is now available in the new project.

How to delete a file

1. Select the file you would like to delete and then just a right-click on this file.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Delete’.

A new window is opened.

3. Confirm the message with ‘Yes’.

Your file is deleted.

How to open an existing calculation file

1. Select a calculation file you would like to open.

2. Click on the calculation file.

3. Click on the button ‘Open calculation’.

The calculation file is opened.

Please note: With a double-click on the calculation file you can open the file too.

3.4 The message window in the project manager

The message window is also your control window. Here you can check your management functions. If you copy a file, the message ‘File copied’ is displayed in the window.

3.5 The button ‘Refresh’

With clicking on the button ‘Refresh’, the data content of allwindows will be updated.

Example: Open the calculation module ‘Parallel key’ and accomplish a calculation, save this calculation and close the module. If you now return to the project manager, your saved calculation is not displayed immediately. So press the button ‘Refresh’ and your file is displayed.

3.6 The file info

Here you get further information about the files.

Click on a file, the ‘File info’ appears. You will get the name of the file, the calculation type as well as the date and time of your calculation.

3.7 The time account

Here your ‘time left’ is displayed.

As long as you work in the project manager, no time will be subtract from your time account. But when you open one of the calculation modules, the time will be subtract minute by minute from your account.

Please note: In the project manager you can find gratis modules: fit calculation according to DIN ISO 286, shaft dimensioning according to Niemann, hardness conversion according to DIN 50150 as well as a lubricant selection. You can also open these modules directly from the eAssistant web site. For that it is not necessary to register for the eAssistant. If you open these gratis modules in the project manager, the debit from your time account will be deactivated.

The time account for a test

If you have used your free test account for 5 hours, then your time account is expired and will be deactivated automatically. After the expiration of this test account you have got the possibility to order a flatrate or an hour-package.

The time account for an hour package

If you ordered an hour-package, then 30 minutes before your time account is expired a message will be displayed. Is the complete using time expired, then all functions will be deactivated. But you can save your calculation data locally. To find more information about prices, please visit our web site www.eAssistant.de.

The time account for a flatrate account

If the flatrate is expired, all functions will be deactivated. After this you can order an hour package or a flatrate again. For more information about prices, please visit our web site www.eAssistant.de.

3.8 Save files locally

The eAssistant offers you two different possibilities to save your calculations. On the one hand you can save your calculations on the eAssistant server. On the other hand you can save the calculations directly on your workstation (local saving). The possibility of local saving is an option in the project manager.

1. Activate the checkbox ‘Enable file save local’.

2. Please read the content.

Please note: For safety reasons ‘Java’ needs an approval from your system which you have to confirm. After you have confirmed the message, you can save your data locally.

3. Click on the button ‘OK’.

Please note: If you have activated this button, you can decide to save your calculation locally or to save the calculation on the eAssistant server. In case this button is not activated, you can save your calculation only on the eAssistant server.

3.9 How to leave the program

1. Click on the button ‘Logout’.

The welcome page of the eAssistant is now available.

Please note: After you logged out, you will be able to login immediately.

2. Close the window.

Now you have left the program.

Please note: If you close the eAssistant without logging out, you will be signed off automatically. But you can relogin immediately using your user name and password.
Please note: Only when all calculation modules are closed, then you can leave the eAssistant. In case a calculation module is currently opened you will get a message. If this message displays, click on the button ‘Refresh’ and then on the button ‘Logout’. Then you will be able to logout.
