For the design engineering of shafts and axes with full circle profile, the required dimensions will be estimated with an approximate calculation. Materials can be selected from a database. Individual materials, including the definition of maximum permissible torsion and bending tension, can be also used.

Four different load types are available for the calculation:

• Solid axle (bending)
• Revolving axle (bending)
• Shaft (torsion)
• Shaft (torsion and bending)

After the input of the loads (bending load, torsion load or both) and the desired safety factor, the required minimum diameter will be calculated.
