Gear calculation

The following gear calculation modules are available for the determination of different gear types and gear configurations:

Cylindrical gear pairs (DIN 3990 / ISO 6336 / AGMA 2101 / 2001 ...)

The calculation of the gear tooth geometry and gear tooth form is based on DIN 3960, DIN 3961, DIN 3964, DIN 3967, DIN 3977 and DIN 868. External and internal spur and helical gears are possible to calculate. The load capacity is determined according to DIN 3990 Method B, ISO 6336 (2008) Method B and ANSI/AGMA 2101-D04 including load spectrum.

Single cylindrical gears

Dimensions, allowances and gear tooth form of straight and helical involute gears according to DIN 3960 and other standards can be determined with these two calculation modules. One module allows to calculate single external cylindrical gears, the other supports the calculation of single internal gears. The modules calculate the gear tooth form based on a mathematical simulation of the manufacturing process (gear hobbing or gear shaping).

Gear racks

This is a gear module to calculate a gear pair of rack and involute pinion gear. The calculation of geometry, allowances, test data, tooth form and strength is possible for racks with either straight or helical gear teeth according to DIN 3960, DIN 3990, ISO 6336 and other standards. Square or round racks are supported.

Planetary gear trains (DIN 3990, ISO 6336, AGMA 2101 / 2001 ...)

The gear module is intended to calculate allowances, test data, gear tooth form and load capacity of simple planetary gear trains which include either straight or helical teeth gears. The planetary gear trains consist of a sun gear, planet gears and annulus. The calculation of the load capacity is based on DIN 3990 Method B, ISO 6336 (2008) Method B and ANSI/AGMA 2101-D04 including load spectrum.

Three- and four-gear train systems

Both gear modules support the easy and fast calculation of gear train systems with three or four involute cylindrical gears. In addition to the determination of the geometry and gear tooth form, the standards DIN 3390 and ISO 6336 are available for the calculation of the load capacity.

Straight and helical bevel gears

The gear module allows the calculation of straight and helical bevel gears with a shaft angle equal and unequal 90 degree. Different forms of the tooth depth are supported. The geometry is determined according to ISO 23509 and the allowances according to ISO 17485. 3D CAD plugins offer the output of the gear tooth form. The load capacity is calculated in accordance with ISO 10300.

Spiral bevel gears

This gear module is used to calculate different types of spiral bevel gears with a shaft angle equal and unequal 90 degree. In addition to the determination of the geometry and allowances including the calculation of backlash, a calculation of the load capacity is available according to ISO 10300. 3D CAD plugins offer the output of the gear tooth form.

Worm gears

The gear module supports the calculation of cylindrical worm gears paired with a globoid worm gear according to DIN 3975. The calculation module considers the different flank forms ZA, ZK, ZN, ZI/ZE and ZC. Dimensions, allowances and test data can be calculated. The load capacity is determined according to DIN 3996, ISO/TR 14521 and Niemann.

Involute splines

The gear module for involute splines is available within the modules for shaft-hub connections. Geometry, allowances, test data, gear tooth form and strength can be calculated according different geometry standards like DIN 5480, DIN 5482, ISO 4156, ANSI B92.2M or ANSI B92.1. In order to define special dimensions, geometry parameters can be defined individually. The calculation and the output of the gear tooth form is possible for both the externally toothed part (shaft) and the internally toothed part (hub).
